What’s Hot: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic “Double Rainboom” fan-made episode

Double Rainboom is finally out! A totally fan-made full length MLP:FiM episode, starring all your favorite ponies.  Made as a class project by FlamingoRich with assistance from a whole crew of MLP fans/bronies, and full permission of Hasbro, Double Rainboom is a clever, colorful treat!

Twilight has worked for a long time to create a magical potion. Except, she’s not really sure what it does. So, of course, Rainbow Dash drinks it. Suddenly, Rainbow Dash is super powerful. She does a double rainboom, and ends up transporting herself to a new dimension.  The PowerPuff Girls’ dimension…

An entirely fan-made episode that took over a year to create, Double Rainboom’s visuals are amazing — the animation, the ponies, the backgrounds, the transitions. All something to be proud of. The music is great, and the voice acting is really close to the original series.

It has a good overall story, but the choice to do a crossover with PowerPuff Girls is risky — at once brilliant, yet deviating from a “true” MLP episode.  As we all know, Lauren Faust who created the revamped My Little Pony, was also the creator of PowerPuff Girls.  (And the voice actress for Twilight Sparkle, Tara Strong, also did the voice of Bubbles.) So, that makes it a natural fit. Yet, Double Rainboom is supposed to be canon — would the original series ever do a crossover with PowerPuff Girls?  That being said, my daughter LOVED it when it changed to the PowerPuff Girls dimension: “It was so funny!”

Whether you like the MLP x PPG crossover or not, there’s no denying that a lot of talented people put a TON of work and love into making this episode. So, kudos to the crew — great job, guys!  Our rating:  9/10. A must see for MLP:FiM fans.

According to the Double Rainboom website:

Double Rainboom is a Senior film written, directed, & produced by FlamingoRich  (Zachary Rich) for his college curriculum – and it is the  first-ever fan-made episode of My Little  Pony: Friendship is Magic. Through the combined efforts of bronies across  the internet and other students from the Savannah  College of Art & Design – the episode will feature a full orchestral  score, studio-quality sound effects, voice actresses for the ponies, and 100%  show-accurate animation.
